Thank you for supporting my petition, Boycott CBS! By reading an excellent petition by a documentary filmmaker named Alessandrio Machi, I have learned some unsettling pieces of information:
•Forced Streaming Migration:
Paramount Plus appears to be exercising too much power and influence over CBS, pressuring them into canceling quality shows so that Paramount can manipulate viewers into watching what they want viewers to watch. People do not like to be manipulated, and personally, I am not going to be watching Paramount Plus again knowing that they are attempting to use too much power for their own agenda.
•Hidden Viewing Numbers: Important viewing numbers and statistics has been purposely hidden from viewers so that we have not seen the games that CBS and Paramount are playing. They are lying to us about the success of quality shows like CSI: Vegas and So Help Me Todd so that they can control the narrative and push out lower quality shows. Goes to show that CBS as a network is slipping and that Paramount Plus is using slimy behaviors. For more information, look at Alessandrio Machi's petition on change.org.
•Excuses and Deception: CBS and Paramount Plus claim there's "No room on the schedule," and yet there's room for three different FBI shows and NCIS shows? CBS and Paramount were some of the networks contributing to the writer's strike. It was their fault if numbers slipped for some of these shows because the days CSI: Vegas, So Help Me Todd and others were on kept changing. They are purposely replacing high quality television with low quality and uninspired television, showcasing a slipping of both creativity and work ethic.
Things You Can Do To Help
•Stay Informed and Act:
Sign the petition by Alessandrio Machi also threatening to Boycott both Paramount Plus and CBS to unearth more information about the dark secrets both network and streaming service are hiding.
•Support Sophie A's Petition to Save CSI Vegas, an example of how CBS has been cutting beloved shows without any consideration for fan outcry.
Share both of these petitions and others with others- your voice does matter, and if we keep working at it, there is a good chance we could get what we want.
•Write to CBS and Paramount Plus (Repeatedly, and Encourage Others You Know Who Like These Shows to do The Same):
Basic human psychology suggests that persistence works. If we keep writing, they will eventually tire of ignoring us, especially when we give them good reasons to listen. There are plenty of other networks and streaming services with more creative shows we can watch, and we need to remind them of that.
•Speak Up about Their Failures:
CBS and Paramount Plus are prioritizing mediocrity over innovation, replacing shows that inspire and entertain with mediocre, uninspired content. Additionally, focusing too much on spin-offs and predictable programming will sooner or later drive viewers away. People crave variety and creativity- two things CBS and Paramount are severely lacking in right now.
•Spread the Word:
The more people who become aware of what is going on, the stronger this movement and others like it will become. Please continue to share this petition and others like it via social media, share it with friends and family, and with other members of the fan community of these two shows.
Why This Matters
If we do not act, CBS and Paramount Plus will both think that it is okay to belittle and ignore viewers and push out content that is lazy and mediocre. They will think of us as disposable, sacrificing quality for profit, being no different than any other greedy, morally weak rich corporation in the United States. Let's hold them accountable and fight for the shoes and storytelling we deserve.
Together, we can push for change. Let's keep up the pressure and demand better from CBS and Paramount Plus!
