Boston College is restricting  the 2021 Commencement to only graduates, trustees, senior administrators, honorary degree recipients and faculty marshalls.  The ceremony will take place in Alumni Stadium on Campus.   Alumni Stadium is an open air stadium that accommodates 44,000.  The state of Massachusetts restricted attendance during football season to 12% or over 5000 attendees.  

As parents we oppose this arrangement.  With vaccinations in place, positive cases and hospitalizations down, we are asking for this very restrictive plan be revisited to allow parents to attend in person.  Reduce the number of administrators and other non essential attendees to allow for parents to watch their children receive their hard earned diplomas.   We would even consider, splitting the Commencement ceremony into several smaller groups to address the social distancing. 

Our children have suffered enough, with the home schooling for half their Junior year and on line learning their entire senior year.  It is time to rejoice in their accomplishments with their parents who have supported their children through these very trying times.  We ask that the 2021 Commencement be revisited to allow in person attendance of parents and we are willing to attend smaller session to do so,
