Thank you all for signing the petition. You may have been wondering about where things stand.

It appears the Council has heard our strong attachment to the rocket.

I wanted to share some information from the Council, though we still await formal confirmation. 

I would particularly like to thank Cr Wes Gault for his prompt attention, advocacy, and common sense approach on this issue.

In the latest "Boroondara Bulletin" Wes wrote: "We are now fortunate to have secured the services of the consultant who was active in saving the other two Australian craft, to advise Council and assist in its aim to retain the rocket".

The Council has now done an engineering report to inspect the footing and structural soundness of the rocket, as well as engaged a heritage consultant.

Once those final reports are to hand later this month the Council has indicated a comprehensive update will be provided to the community.

The Council officer in charge has indicated they are "very confident" the rocket can be retained and that "our aim is to keep modifications to the minimum but ensure the Rocket continue as a play item".

Additional consultation on the overall playground will also occur.

I am heartened by these indications and wanted to let you know.
