Women's rights to change and stricter punishments for sexual abuse/harassments crimes.
The Issue
Hello,
I’m Verity a 21 year old female who after the recent events in the media realised that something needs to change in the uk, I’m not asking for the world to change overnight but I am asking for the right to be able to walk home alone at night wearing whatever I want without the fear, I am asking for the opportunity to not have to not have to walk to my car late at night with the keys in between my knuckles or the checking of the seats before I get in. I am asking to be able to wear what I want without the fear that someone is going to take that as a form of consent. I am not asking for huge changes I am simply asking what every other female is asking right now.
I stand for all women who feel unsafe and uneasy at night, in the streets, in public, in their own homes, around their own families, I stand for all 97% of women who have been sexually harassed. I stand for everyone and anyone who wants change. I stand for Sarah Everard, her family and anyone who has ever been sexually abused/ harassed or those who have been too scared to walk home in the dark.
I want change for those who have been the victims of such abuse who needed the correct support and never received it, I want change for the under 18s who have been too scared to stand up and say its happened to them, I want more money put into the after care of those who have been the victims of such abuse. All I am fighting for is the change that consent is taught at an early age, that women are not possessions or trophies; I’m fighting for those who are too scared or are feeling alone…. I STAND WITH YOU, I HEAR YOU, I’M FIGHTING FOR YOU.
No its “not all men” but it’s the realisation for women that they are not safe, they don’t feel safe, people praying on their vulnerabilities and 45% of cases being dropped because women are made to feel small, or like it was their fault
I WANT CHANGE…. THAT IS ALL AND IT IS NOT TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR.
