Women in Poverty - Letter to PM

Women in Poverty - Letter to PM
A high percentage of women, whether they work or not, still live in poverty and still need food banks. This affects their mental and physical health, their aspirations and the aspirations of their children. You cannot 'level up' if people are only just surviving. You cannot improve mental health or build back better if the underlying causes are not removed. You cannot get people working if they are physically and mentally unable to do so. You cannot get women in work unless there is a system to support their children.
The women I work with don’t dream of being ultra-rich, they dream of being able to pay their bills, feed their children, have a job they can cope with and perhaps go on holiday once a year. They live in fear of not being able to do so. They do not thrive and neither do their children - our country's future.
So, what do I want? I want to change the PM and his cabinet's worldview. I want to change the system they have in place and demand outcomes that affect people at grassroots level. I want MPs to stop having meetings and do something that will change this downward spiral. I want them to move money into a pot that establishes short, mid and long term solutions. I want women in this situation to be part of creating that change, and I don’t want it to take years to reach us.
Look at it this way, if all MPs gave up 20% of their salaries and benefits for one year, this would free up thirteen million pounds. This is a rough approximation based on 650 MPs earning £100,000 a year. Over five years, this equates to sixty-five million. In my opinion, no civil servant needs to earn more than £80,000 a year in salaries and benefits, when there are so many people in need.
I have already sent a letter to Boris Johnson, petitioning for change, and copied every national and local media newspaper and TV channels. Would you please sign this petition so I can present it to Boris?
