Thanks to you all, my .gov petition reached over 10 000 supporters. Needless to say, the response from the government was less than satisfactory. https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/114853?reveal_response=yes
They are still persisting to say that the law is adequate as it is and that the police have the powers to move on protestors. The government is not listening to all of our voices who are telling them that the law, as it stands, needs to change! As I've said many times before, this wouldn't be a problem if the law was adequate.
Whilst the London, Welsh and Scottish elections are taking place, there is little point lobbying the government directly. I will be contacting my MP again though.
I now have a second petition (see below) up and running calling on the woman (now women) who have been prosecuted in N.I. for buying abortion medication online. It's currently an offence to do this. There are many NI groups working to abolish this law but I set up the petition to raise awareness and show solidarity with the situation in NI. These women are not criminals, they simply didn't have the money to travel to England like so many others do. Please support my petition and if you're interested in knowing more ... Look up #repealthe8th
Many thanks again. I'm still not giving up!!
