Captain Sir Tom Moore captured the nations spirit and became a figurehead for the UK's fight against COVID-19.

I think we are all feeling his loss right now. He was a beacon of light during a very very dark time. We owe it to Captain Sir Tom Moore, and indeed every life lost to this terrible disease to have a national moment of mourning, and now, a year on from the first UK cases hitting our shores and the passing of one of our greatest national treasures to pause as a nation for a moment of reflection and mourning.

I hereby call upon the government to announce a national silence at an appropriate moment.
