Petition updateLaunch a public inquiry into the #DeniedMyVote scandalMP puts Theresa May on the spot over #DeniedMyVote during her statement on EU Council meeting

Thank you to all of you who wrote to your MP to ask them to raise the issue of #DeniedMyVote in the House of Commons today when Theresa May made her statement about the EU Council meeting.

This all worked according to plan and Stephen Timms MP was able to ask the following question:

“The European Parliament is investigating concerns that over a million EU citizens in the UK may have been wrongly prevented from voting in the European elections What discussions has the Prime Minister had about those concerns, at the EU Council or elsewhere?

This was the Prime Minister's reply:

"This is not an issue that has been raised by other member states directly with me, and it was not raised at this EU Council meeting."

However, we know that the issue has been raised with the UK government by the European Commission, following the news today that Věra Jourová, the EU's Justice Commissioner, has written to UK Government Minister Chloe Smith to register a complaint about the elections were conducted in the UK following our representations.

Brussels chastises UK over barriers to EU27 citizens voting

Not only did the Commissioner criticise the UK government for the conduct of the 2019 European elections, she also explicitly referred to the promise of reform which New Europeans obtained from the Government following the vote denied scandal in 2014.

Further EU Council meeting

There will be another EU Council meeting on Sunday, 30 June - this time to decide the "EU top jobs" before the European Parliament meets for the first time after the election in Strasbourg on 1 July.

That means that the Prime Minister will make a further statement to the House of Commons on 1 July and there will be another opportunity for MPs to ask if leaders of EU member states have raised the vote denied scandal with her.

With your support, we will contact MPs in several EU member states to ask them to raise the vote denied scandal with their governments.

This is in addition to the work we are already doing with European media outlets and MEPs.

We will also brief MPs in Westminster to probe the Government further both at Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday and also when Theresa May returns from the second EU council meeting next Monday.

We cannot do this work without your contribution

Can you chip in £5, £10, £25 of what you can afford?

It is simply not possible for us to work in London, Brussels and elsewhere and to make the kind of impact we are now making without some money to fuel the campaign

Our target is £3,000 and the appeal currently stands at £1,629

We look to you to play your part, as we are doing ours, in helping to expose this injustice.

A contribution small or large is going to make a big difference to the success of our campaign.

We are making an impact - help us to continue to do so as we move now to step up the campaign as set out in the article below.
