Boost Funding and Grant Opportunities for Local Animal Shelter and Control Department
The Issue
As a fervent advocate for animals and having personally rescued and cared for many throughout my years, I have awakened to a heartbreaking scene where stray, lost, and free roaming animals flood our neighborhoods. It is distressing to witness so many animals roaming the streets, some injured, some aggressive, and many of them completely petrified. It’s so disturbing to see the amount of animals struck by cars or killed by wildlife.
The call is simple, yet urgent: increase the amount of funding our local animal shelter and animal control department receive. Help us secure grants and support. Overpopulation, back yard breeders, strays, and animals at large have become a critical issue in our area.
Our animal shelter seems to possess limited space and funding, making it extremely difficult to adequately feed and care for the mounting number of animals in need, hold lost pets, and hold negligent owners accountable. This creates a heartbreaking situation for the animals in our community, and contributes to the threat to public safety. Many of us have shown great effort to protect animals, by capturing and rehoming strays, by reuniting lost pets with their owners, by providing safe housing for animals, and by posting to neighborhood forums and groups to raise awareness on the issue of animal welfare. Unfortunately, most of this effort is not without risk. Approaching and capturing unknown and unfamiliar animals can be a challenge, as well as a serious danger. Though I stand with and commend the people who risk their safety for the betterment of these animals, it is ultimately the duty of our animal control and county to ensure resolution is achieved with proper safety protocols. It would be a tragedy for ANYONE in our community to be injured or harmed when trying to make a difference. This is why I’m presenting a different kind of approach to ensure the safety and care for animals and animal advocates in our area. You can still be their voice, but together we can be HEARD.
I hope to appeal to our community, and eventually our municipality and responsible government bodies to actively participate in changing the dire situation of our animals. They need more than our compassion; they need action.
Please, stand with me for this cause, your signature makes difference, and can make a great impact on our community and the lives of animals. We need to come together. Show them they’re not alone.
