Bolster the rights of Harrison Butker and back the K.C. Chiefs to not punish him.

The Issue

Why this petition matters?

There is currently a petition attempting to bully the Kansas City Chiefs management to dismiss Harrison Butker, who is a player on their roster, for his commencement speech that was given at the graduation of Benedictine College.

Their claim is that his speech, "perpetuate division and undermine human rights...reinforce harmful stereotypes that threaten social progress. They create a toxic environment that hinders our collective efforts towards equality, diversity and inclusion in society. It is unacceptable for such a public figure to use their platform to foster harm rather than unity."

What an egregious use of defamation. To claim that his opinion would destroy the societal fabric of space and time, is utter fear mongering.

Harrison Butker simply used his societal and literal platform to speak about topics that have been unnecessarily taboo, and to give a different point of view to the graduates going out into the world. Graduates who may be under societal, professional or religious pressure to be, act, or speak a certain way, to give them hope that the world is what YOU make it, not what they make you make it.

In addition Harrison Butker was exercising his legal right with freedom of speech as an American Citizen. A right given to him under the 1st Amendement of the U.S. Constitution. For them to call for punishment for exercising that right is unconstitutional.

In their hypocritical petition they boldly demand that sports figures should be accountable role models promoting respect and acceptance to all people, when at the same time they themselves undoubtedly have an outspoken social media presence towards rivaling ideologies, that are short of respect and accountability.

Please sign this petition so we can finally stand up to the hypocrisy and say, "No!" to the bullies that try to destroy the lives of others that think differently than they do. Please sign this petition to tell the Kansas City Chiefs management team to not falter and not cater to the demands of this nonsense.

Say, "No!" to the bullies and their false power.
