Allow Fire Chief Doan to Retire

Allow Fire Chief Doan to Retire
The Issue
On March 4, Chief Doan announced his decision to retire in May after being placed on non-disciplinary paid leave. Chief was offered a severance, but wanted to retire with dignity and turned it down. After turning in his retirement notice, he was served with a letter from the mayor, and Boise HR that his employment would be taken to a vote at City Council.
Chief Doan has served the city of Boise for 30 years and was appointed Fire Chief in 2008. In 2013 he took to saving lives again when he donated his bone marrow to my 1 year old son to save his life. My family got to know Dennis and he has shown countless times how wonderful a person he is.
This move is political. The mayor has a right to choose who she wants on charge, but she should allow the Chief to leave in a dignified manner.
Please help support this great citizen of Boise.
