The Issue

In the light of the Buffalo and now Uvalde mass shootings and including Sandy hook, and El Paso, our petition is for us to effectively ban the selling of Body Armor, Accessories, and Riot Shields (BAARS) from online Sellers and retailers.

6 April 2007, I was living in Yorktown, VA for 9th grade school year when the Virginia Tech shooting occurred in Blacksburg, VA; a little under of a 5-hour drive in between the 2 towns.  At the time, my thought process was, "...this was just a freak incident, I doubt this would ever happen again...".  I never knew much about the Colombine shooting at the time and NEVER, like many of us students at that time, would have thought that this "freak incident" would intensify to what we have today in 2022.  Research studies have revealed that we have had 212 mass shooting since the start of 2022....That means a massing shooting in America has occurred approximately every week and a half.

Many people are unaware that on ecommerce sites such as eBay, you can purchase level 3 body armor vest with inserts, an armor helmet, and a riot shield all shipped to your door with no regulations or laws. These items and then some can easily be bought with a credit card or loan.

We believe this ban will potentially diminish future mass shootings, by us voicing our pressing and utmost concerns about these items being removed and banned from being sold predominately online.  We believe this would greatly have more probability of a shooter being stopped and/or deterred.
