Bodhi’s Bill

The Issue

A Mother's Call to Action,

My name is Heaven Kervin, and I am a mother who lost her son, Bodhi Cole, due to a lack of a pool fence in Texas. In memory of my son, I am committed to advocating for legislation mandating pool fencing. Together, we can take action and ensure the safety of our children.

Drowning is the leading cause of death in children under the age of five, and it can happen in a matter of seconds. As parents, it is our responsibility to ensure that our kids are safe around water. Installing a pool fence is a simple yet effective way to prevent accidents. A fence can provide a physical barrier between your child and the pool, making it harder for them to access the water without adult supervision.

Unfortunately, there is no federal law mandating pool fencing, and regulations vary by state and local jurisdiction. It is up to us as parents to advocate for change and demand that our lawmakers take action to protect our children. By working together and raising awareness about the importance of pool safety, we can make a difference. I would like to create a bill to keep our children safe. very much like laws accross our country regarding pool and water safety. It’s time to fence our pools. I would like something similar to Flordia’s state law.

I urge all parents to take this issue seriously and take action to prevent tragedies from happening. Let us honor the memory of Bodhi and all the children who have lost their lives to drowning by advocating for pool safety and ensuring that every pool is fenced. Together, we can save lives and keep our children safe.
