Fire Amy Louise Trafficante
The Issue
This petition is to get Amy Louise Trafficante fired. We don’t need teachers like this to be teaching our children. Our kids go to school to be uplifted, inspired, and encouraged. Not tore down, criticized, and made to feel bad. In a time of sadness when ten-year-old Persayus Davis-May, was shot and killed Amy Louise Trafficante wrote: “I woke up this morning to news to a shooting in Youngstown. Sadly this is nothing new, but what came next has devastated me. A student of mine was shot and killed. 10 years old. WTF?!? I am so angry and sad at the same time. This baby was not my brightest, but she was our caregiver and protector. She struggled with all academics but could count money like it was her job. This little girl was tough and sweet at the same time and appreciated attention and kindness. When she would fall asleep in class (which was often) I have her time to rest. She explained she was up taking care of her younger brother because her parents were both working. She wasn’t the brightest academically but she could run a household and take care of a family even in 2nd grade.”
None of this is necessary to say about a ten-year-old that has recently been shot. My heart truly goes out to that family, but our children don’t deserve to be surrounded by teachers of this caliber. Backhanded compliments, side jabs, and flat-out insults are not how you go about giving family and friends condolences. We need our school system back, we need our children surrounded with motivators, inspirers, uplifters, creators, but most of all we need our children surround with teachers that are there for them not to just push them through so they can collect a pay check at the end of the week.
