Block Flybridge Swansboro LLC and Paramounte Engineering's Overdevelopment Project
The Issue
I write this petition from a place of deep concern and love for the Swansboro community. Born and raised here, part of families with long-standing roots in the area, I have watched in mounting alarm as the quaint coastal charm that makes our hometown so special rapidly evaporates. Unchecked and unsustainable growth now threatens to transform our community and not for the better.
The immediate catalyst for this petition is a proposal by Flybridge Swansboro LLC and Paramounte Engineering to build a staggering 324 apartments spread over 39 acres on Hwy 24. The proposed development, with its density and size, poses a threat too severe to be ignored. If allowed, it will place an intolerable strain on our already struggling roads, power and water supply, schools, and emergency services.
Our area, already stretched thin, is bursting at the seams. Take our schools, for instance - every single one is over capacity, and I fear that my own son could end up going to a mobile classroom environment. It is not just an isolated problem but a clear symptom of broader and deeper issues that need addressing.
We have witnessed the rapid and unchecked growth in the Hubert/Swansboro area but there's nothing inevitable about the pace and nature of this growth. Indeed, it can and must be checked and controlled, for the sake of our communities and future generations. The proposed 324-apartment development is a step too far and it is up to us to ensure it doesn't materialize.
Growth, while often a sign of prosperity, needs to be balanced with the demands of the community and its resources. It's not just about preventing one builder from profiting at the expense of the community's well-being, but setting a precedent for controlled development that respects the needs and constraints of the Swansboro community.
Together, and only together, can we protect our town from such disproportionate and detrimental development. Stand with me today, and let's ensure this proposal is rejected. Please sign this petition, and let's preserve the charm, community spirit, and resources of Swansboro.
