Revise the Salon & Spa industry in Orange level for New Brunswick

Revise the Salon & Spa industry in Orange level for New Brunswick

The Issue

Help me understand how this makes sense!!! My child can still attend school with 300-600 people per day, public can still go sit and eat in a restaurant and everyone can still enter a bar and socialize BUT it’s not safe for them to go to a licensed salon or spa there has been zero cases in our province or exposure linked to any licensed salon. Everyone is still able to go eat at the McDonald's and St-Hubert, and go to Costco where there were confirmed covid cases amongst staff. In licensed salons and spas we have been implementing mandatory masks since opening in May, have very detailed operational plans, use hospital grade disinfectants, practice social distancing, only service one on one clientele and don’t allow anyone in without an appointment. By no means am I asking for other small businesses to be closed but I am asking we are fairly assessed and treated in the orange phase when it comes to risk assessment. We are educated on infectious disease, sanitation and disinfection protocols by no means do we pose a higher risk than other industries.

Sincerely,

Ashley McDavid owner of Luxe Salon in Riverview
