The issue

Growing up, I witnessed a world that is increasingly divided due to religious and political tensions. I believe it is crucial, now more than ever, that we actively promote understanding and peace among diverse communities. People need a secure and respectful environment where they can freely express their beliefs and engage in open, honest dialogue. This is why I am calling on the Blacktown Council to designate The village Green as a weekly venue  - on Sundays from 1pm onwards for interfaith dialogue, akin to The Speakers' Corner in the UK.

The Speakers' Corner, an iconic location in Hyde Park, London, has long been a beacon of free speech and public debate, drawing people from various faiths and backgrounds to openly share their perspectives. By creating a similar platform here in Blacktown, we can bring individuals together, fostering unity and understanding within our community.

The village Green, centrally located and accessible, offers the perfect setting for these dialogues. A weekly interfaith meeting would provide an opportunity for people to learn from one another, breaking down the barriers of misunderstanding and division. Such initiatives can play a pivotal role in preventing the escalation of conflicts and promoting peace and harmony within our society.

Imagine the benefits: a space where discourse is encouraged and cherished can contribute significantly to reducing prejudice and cultural ignorance. It is a chance to celebrate our diversity and connect with others who may hold different worldviews. By supporting each other in this safe space, we can strengthen community bonds and work together towards a more inclusive future.

Join me in urging the Blacktown Council to allow the use of The village Green on a weekly basis for the purpose of interfaith dialogue. By signing this petition, you are advocating for a more interconnected and understanding community. Please help us create this vital space for dialogue and peace.
