I am led to believe that the Liddell Coal Fired Power Station has been rendered to a point where it can no longer be recommissioned. This is in line with the AGL report on the 24th April when the last turbine was turned off, with demolition due to start in 2024. https://www.2hd.com.au/2023/04/24/liddell-powering-down-for-the-final-time/
WHICH RAISE THE QUESTION FOR AGL. What responsibility does AGL have to its customers to continue to supply a reliable supply of electricity 24/7?
AND IF THERE ARE BLACKOUTS, BECAUSE AGL’s RENEWABLE ENERGY GENERATORS ARE NOT IN PLACE OR JUST TOTALLY UNRELIABLE.
SHOULD NOT AGL’s CUSTOMERS BE ENTITLED TO COMPENSATION FOR ANY LOSSES THEY MIGHT OCCUR OWING TO AGL’s INCOMPETANCE.
AS THE OVER RIDING BODY, WHY HAS THE AEMO ALLOWED THIS TO HAPPEN? SOMEBODY NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE?
Please promote our petition as widely as possible. https://www.change.org/p/blackouts-will-be-devastating-they-must-be-avoided-at-all-costs I would value it if you are able to donate $20 or $50 to promote the petition on Change.org and also promote it on Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp or Email.
KEEP INFORMED BY DAILY MONITORING THE AEMO DATA DASHBOARD. And alert your friends to watch the AEMO dashboard, the more know what's happening the better.
Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: 21 Nov 10.10am EDST. Batteries 0%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 43%, Brown Coal 19%, Gas 3%, Hydro 4% Diesel 0% Solar 26%, Wind 5% (The unreliables Solar and Wind total of 31%),
A pathetic 5% from Wind nationally. With SA having 8% gas, 39% solar and 50% wind. That looks Ok for SA, but on a calm dark night, A DARK NIGHT WOULD BE EVEN DARKER!!!
Unreliables can be cheap for a few hours. But it is the average over 24hrs, that matters on your electricity bill.
AND FOR KEEPING THE LIGHTS ON AND EVERYTHING FUNCTIONING.
We are up to 2,522 signatures, let’s increase it by many more, everyone’s future depends on it. Continue to spread the word, to all family, friends, anyone you meet, particularly discuss it with shop and business owners. Ask the question, “How do you plan to cope when the blackouts come? Are you thinking of buying a generator? I am seriously looking into a portable generator, as I have gas for cooking and heating. WE MUST KEEP THOSE COAL FIRED GENERATORS GOING.
