Hi Team members,
It is reported that the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is warning that with a scorching hot summer predicted there could be demand for electricity spike to a once-in-a-decade high, and warns, that will mean the increasing the risk of blackouts, and forced power outages across the country. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-11-15/summer-heatwave-drives-extreme-electricity-demand/103108580
TO AVOID THIS DISASTROUS SITUATION, LIDDELL COAL FIRED POWER STATION MUST BE RECOMMISSIONED.
WE CALL ON PENNEY SHARPE, NSW MINISTER FOR ENERGY AND CLIMATE CHANGE TO NEGOTIATE WITH AGL TO RECOMMISSION LIDDELL.
IF BLACKOUTS AND FORCED OUTAGES IS NOT SEEN AS A NATIONAL EMERGENCY, THEN ALL PARTICIPANTS NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE CHAOS THAT WILL HAPPEN.
Please contact your local Federal and State member and demand that the Liddell Coal Fired Power Station be recommissioned.
Please promote our petition as widely as possible. https://www.change.org/p/blackouts-will-be-devastating-they-must-be-avoided-at-all-costs I would value it if you are able to donate $20 or $50 to promote the petition on Change.org and also promote it on Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp or Email.
KEEP INFORMED BY DAILY MONITORING THE AEMO DATA DASHBOARD. And alert your friends to watch the AEMO dashboard, the more know what's happening the better.
Particularly at 7pm and 7am (Or a time that suits you?) watch (and record) the mix of coal, gas hydro, batteries, solar and wind generation and the prices per MWh for each State on the AEMO dashboard.
Example: 12 Nov 5.35pm EDST. Batteries 0%, Biomass 0%, Black Coal 37%, Brown Coal 11%, Gas 9%, Hydro 12% Diesel 0% Solar 15%, Wind 16% (The unreliables Solar and Wind total of 31%),
Another and solar goes sleepy-byes as the Sun has set. (Is it not madness, to have an electricity generator that is idle for fifteen hours every day and produces zero electricity).
And if it is a calm night as well, then the AEMO would be desperately needing those coal fired generators to be filling the gap left by the unreliables.
AND FOR KEEPING THE LIGHTS ON AND EVERYTHING FUNCTIONING.
We are up to 2,505 signatures, let’s increase it by many more, everyone’s future depends on it. Continue to spread the word, to all family, friends, anyone you meet, particularly discuss it with shop and business owners. Ask the question, “How do you plan to cope when the blackouts come? Are you thinking of buying a generator? I’m having second thoughts about the portable generator, but I have gas for cooking and heating. WE MUST KEEP THOSE COAL FIRED GENERATORS GOING.
