Bishop O'Byrne Grad Capacity Increase

In past years, the graduation ceremony for Bishop O'Byrne High School was held at the BMO Centre which allowed for an unlimited amount of guests to come witness their family member(s) walk across the stage and take the accomplishment of graduating high school. Prior to BMO Centre, ceremonies were also held at the Jubilee auditorium in which students had the ability to invite a maximum of four guests to witness the accomplishment.
On March 11th, 2020, the graduation ceremony dates for Bishop O'Byrne High School were announced. The venue for graduation is no longer the BMO Centre but rather First Alliance Church. The change for the smaller venue has created a limited amount of seating to two seats per student with the ability to potentially attain more tickets one week before the ceremony.
With the seating limitation and short time frame for notice, it causes two major issues: 1) The limited time frame does not provide guarantee nor proper notice for a student's family member to make accommodations to see the ceremony and 2) The limited seating capacity cuts the potential for the student's immediate and extended family to watch the ceremony (Siblings, cousins, step-parents, etc).
For some, this may be the family's first or only opportunity to witness their family member achieve a milestone. Their child may be the only one out of the entire family to walk the stage. This is an important feat that should be shared and witnessed by loved ones without a limit.
This petition has been made in order to invite the idea for a venue change for the Bishop O'Byrne Grad Ceremony so that both families and students can have the full experience of graduating and completing the milestone of high school.
