The Issue

Limerick Biogas Concern Group

The plan to construct a biomethane plant right in the heart of our rural community in Cappanihane, Bruree, Co. Limerick has sparked significant concern among residents and also those living on the proposed HGV transfer route of Biomethane from the site in Cappanihane to the direct injection site in Mitchelstown Co. Cork. As people who call this place home, we can't help but worry about how this could impact not just our families, but the entire community.

Limerick County Council Planning Ref 2560239 - Open to submissions (objections) until 27th April. Planning Application

  • Highly Explosive Biomethane Gas being transferred by HGV on the R518 Bruff Line, O'Rourke's Cross, Bruree, Kilmallock, Kilfinane, Kildorrery, to the direct injection site in Mitchelstown
  • 70 HGV trucks per day plus Agricultural Vehicles (Slurry Tanks & Silage Tractors) and ancillary vehicles to and from the site - causing congestion on R518 Bruff Line with oversized vehicles on local rural roads to transfer slurry & silage from farms located over a 25km radius of the site.
  • Many environmental concerns, public health concerns, biodiversity concerns, noise, air & odour pollution concerns not fully addressed by the developer.
