Other religious holidays are given many days off from school and even result in classes dismissing early for students who don’t celebrate. It is only fair that we are given the day off from school after Easter so that students can go home to celebrate the holiday with their family. Easter is always on a Sunday and it is not fair that Christian students should have to travel on their holiday, resulting in them not being able to celebrate it or to be alone on their holiday at school without their family. Students who live far away such as from Long Island or New York City, as many students do, cannot simply get back to school in an hour or two. Last year, I and many other students were not able to go home and celebrate Easter with their families. Please sign this petition and let any and all Binghamton University officials know that this cause matters to you. If our school is going to give some religions days off to celebrate their holidays it is only fair that all religions are given that same respect.
