Remove Binghamton’s Racist Chief

Remove Binghamton’s Racist Chief
The Issue
Joseph Zikuski has had a long history of racist actions towards other police officers and the community, that coupled with his sexual harassment of female police officers and culture of intimidation and retaliation to anyone who speaks out against his racist and sexist actions is why Zikuski needs to be removed from his position of Police Chief.
- 2019-2020 -Racial Discrimination lawsuit filed by the first ever Minority Supervisor in BPD history.
- 2019- Federal Racial Discrimination lawsuit filed against Chief Zikuski by 1 of only 4 Black Officers in the Department.
- 2017- Police Union survey conducted by current and retired officers to get Chief Zikuski removed
- 2015- Sexual-Harassment lawsuit filed against Chief Zikuski settled with a NDA (non-disclosure agreement) signed by victim.
- 1996- Federal lawsuit alleging a racially motivated attack by 5 off duty intoxicated cops including Zikuski. The lawsuit alleges Current police chief Zikuski was then promoted to assistant Chief under suspicious circumstances after This racial incident of public intoxication driving while under the influence and a cover-up.
Removing Chief Zikuski who perpetuates a discriminatory negative atmosphere and supporting Good Cops like Sergeant Hardy who spoke out against racism is the first step towards having a modern progressive Police Department that truly represents the community it serves!
(To learn more about Nick’s story head to “Resist Racism and Retaliation” on FB.)
We the undersigned demand that Mayor Rich David bring actions to his words and show his commitment to battling racial inequality and representing true change by removing Chief Zikuski and reinstating Sergeant Hardy.
