Dear petition signers, I am grateful for your support and the words of inspiration so many of you have shared. Our elected leaders have rallied behind us, and are inspired by the community's love for this park. http://media.virbcdn.com/files/72/8ad68f2ba8f7450d-81BBPLetter.pdf It seems that the simplicity of a park - a place that nurtures the most basic and innocent human need to be with nature - is a complex thing to advocate for - in our fast moving and complex city. But, we have good news. Inspired by the grassroots change.org petition, our friends have taken this battle to the courts, and won a temporary restraining order (TRO) to halt real estate development decisions in the park. This legal petition advocates for park green space by minimizing development, and for a new environmental impact study to update decade old data about park visitors, Brooklyn's bursting infrastructure and the current and future need for public green space in our borough. We believe old data makes for bad decisions. We ask again for your support. Below are some ways you can help. 1) join us. Attend the park's board meeting August 6 at 3 pm and share your love for the park and Brooklyn with Mayor de Blasio's Deputy Mayor, Alicia Glen, info @ http://www.savepier6.org/events 2) spread the word. Ask (3) three more friends, neighbors, fellow commuters! to learn about save pier 6 and sign the change.org petition 3) learn more. Visit our new website www.savepier6.org where we aspire to provide information that will inform and empowered our community Thank you so so much. I always have more to learn, and I would gratefully welcome hearing from you. We are a community and a team! I hope to see you August 6. Lori
