Petition to Guy Pilon, Mayor of Vaudreuil-Dorion

Dear Mayor of Vaudreuil-Dorion,

There is little to no time to make the necessary changes to prevent the environment and climate from veering in a bad way. Whereas the pollution from cars pollutes and saturates the city air, and the UN affirms that cities with more bike usage and less car usage have significantly less (around 5x less) C02 emissions (A+S Consult GmbH), we, the undersigned, citizens of Vaudreuil-Dorion, call upon you to improve the biking infrastructure. Spring is approaching quickly which means that the utility of the bike is going to increase. Yesterday, I was sitting on a park bench at the Le 405 park, and I came to witness a plethora of fossil fuel-powered vehicles ruining the atmosphere. I realized that a quick and effective solution to this polluting issue would be to entice the city’s population to use bikes more often. The only way this can be done is by further improving all the infrastructure related to this method of transportation. We can also make it easier to start biking and encouraging citizens to start biking by making electric bikes more accessible. People will be more encouraged to start biking if they can save money on transportation so by lending affordable electric bikes to the population or giving a rebate to anyone who buys an electric bike or bike will help a lot in getting people out of their cars and onto bike lanes.
