Bhagavad Gita to be part of School Curriculum for Hindu children. For others optional.
The Issue
India has always been the crowning glory of universal spirituality, cradle of world's civilization, and mother to most of the major religions in the world.
Gurukul education existed for centuries in India which was based on Sanatana dharma (eternal religion), a term coined as Hinduism by the westerners.
Morality and Spirituality, along with other subjects such as science, maths, and arts based on various branches of vedas were taught to children from an early age of 5.
This combination ensured best quality of citizens were produced within the state and it also ensured highest quality of culture and quality of life existed within the state (kingdom), with minimal disruption to law and order (usually created by the degraded and anti-social elements).
Today (unfortunately) one might agree, corruption and adultery is prevalent among the citizens in all walks of life in this great country, and this level is only on the rise. One tends to wonder, how worse it may get going forward.
One of the main reasons (for the current state) is that, Spirituality has been consciously kept separate from modern education (probably in the name secularism). This has been the practice for the past few decades after Independence and had started ever since the westerners landed in India.
Many of the today's problem plaguing the society, such as, crime in various forms of harassment and violence in various forms, can be controlled if we can build a future generation based on core fundamentals such a spirituality & morality.
One would agree, the Bhagavad Gita has been at the core of the spiritual education which every Hindu ought to learn and understand. Many philosophers and intellectual have agreed that Bhagavad Gita is also a secular subject which can be freely discussed among people from all background (religions, sects or gender).
It is a humble request to create a religious and spiritual body, which can frame the syllabus of Bhagavad Gita suitable for every class which can be taught to children or all ages, starting from 2nd or 3rd class.
Request to make this subject mandatory for all children of Hindu background, in all schools in India (both private and Government).
Similar kind of spiritual education may be imparted to children of other religions based on their holy books.
Syllabus for other children may be formed by the same or separate governing body, to ensure there is no conflict of any nature in the content or topics of discussion.
We need to ensure the differences between religions are kept outside and focus may be only on the common points between different texts, which may lead to divine spirituality among citizens in the longer run.
This is the most important need of the hour. Request to save our future humanity, by ensuring we produce best-in-class citizens.
Kindly help to revive the glory of our great country.
