Beyond Seven Seats: A Proposal To Relocate Graduation For More Loved Ones
Beyond Seven Seats: A Proposal To Relocate Graduation For More Loved Ones
The Issue
Graduation day is a momentous occasion, a time to celebrate achievements and create lasting memories. This is why we're advocating relocating our graduation ceremony to the new football stadium or, if it rains, to Flowers Hall, and lifting the 7-ticket limit currently in place.
The need for this change stems from the fact that our current venue, Norton Auditorium, doesn't have the seating capacity to accommodate all the friends and family our graduates would like to have present. Bank Independent Stadium has a significantly larger seating capacity. The new stadium also offers far more seats than Norton Auditorium, ensuring that no one has to miss out on witnessing this milestone.
Graduations mark one of life’s pivotal moments, which should be shared with everyone important in our lives. By limiting tickets to just seven per graduate, we are inadvertently putting families in the difficult position of choosing which loved ones can attend and who must stay home. This restriction is unnecessary if we simply move the venue.
Another related issue is weather unpredictability. An outdoor graduation is beautiful and grand, but we need a reliable backup plan like using Flowers Hall for rainy days, which again, offers much more space than Norton Auditorium.
By making these changes, not only do we offer an inclusive environment for families, but we also enhance the graduation experience for students. Our graduates have worked tirelessly to reach this point and deserve a celebration that's unrestricted and accessible to all their loved ones.
Let's urge the university administration to act on this request, enabling every family member and friend to witness the joy and achievements of our graduates. Please sign this petition to relocate our graduation venue and remove the ticket restriction, ensuring the best possible experience for everyone involved.
