Our Story

My name is Danielle Lewis and I am a parent of a child who attends Uniting Early Learning North Bondi, corner Warners and, Niblick St, North Bondi NSW 2026 (Rose Bay Precinct, Hunter Ward, Waverley Council, Vaucluse Electorate).

Uniting North Bondi is one of the last remaining low-cost early learning centres / preschools in the area - I know because I've had to move my child three times already in three years as other affordable day-care centres have closed down. Uniting keep costs low by keeping it small, for 3-5 year olds, bring your own food, and shorter hours (8.30am-4.30pm).  

The Issue

It is these shorter hours (longer than a regular preschool 9-3 but not extended hours like many day-care centres 7.30-5.30) that has been causing headaches and traffic safety concerns for us parents at drop-off and pick-up times. These are fairly busy times of day and most of the parking around the preschool is untimed so cars tend to park there for long periods. While many of us walk our kids to the centre when we can, due to the shorter hours and affordability, some of us live further away and /or rely on driving to pick-up or drop-off our kids so we can get to work on time.

The Ask

Sign our petition to ask the Council and Transport for NSW to please consider putting in a few 5-min PUDO (Pick-Up Drop-Off) spaces from 8.30-9am and 4-4.30pm on the street out the front of Uniting North Bondi and Wayside Chapel Op Shop on the corner of Warners Ave and Niblick St.
