Better Girls Football in Emmanuel Middle School

The Issue

I would like to write to you about a petition that I have created to ensure that even though I am leaving at the end of this school year that Emmanuel Middle School, gives equal access for girls to after school training in Football, as part of my role as the sports ambassador within the school, this is something I feel strongly about and with my younger sister starting next year I want her to have the opportunity that I was unable to have.

Over my 4 years at the school there has been a notable difference between the opportunities provided for boys and girls to practice, play games and train football after school. As someone who is passionate about football and equality, I firmly believe that all students should have access to the same after school activities, regardless of their gender.

To address this issue, I have through Verwood Town Football Club contacted the local Dorset FA Equal Game Ambassador; Chris Berry. He has proposed the possibility of his time to visit Emmanuel to support this petition, he is already working with the youth club. With his expertise and advocacy, we aim to highlight the importance of providing girls with equal opportunities in football.

Furthermore, Verwood Town FC is looking at the possibility to provide a kit to support the girls' football team. If we are successful in this petition.

By the school offering an after-school football program for girls, Emmanuel Middle School has the opportunity to foster a more inclusive and equal environment for all students. Not only will this initiative promote physical health and teamwork skills among female students, but it will also send a powerful message about the school's commitment to gender equality.

I urge you to consider this petition and take proactive steps to ensure that girls at Emmanuel Middle School have the same opportunities as the boys to participate in football training. Together, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all students.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
