Die Musik im Mauerpark ist bedroht!

Im ehemaligen Todesstreifen ist der lebhafte Mauerpark entstanden, ein einzigartiger Treffpunkt für Menschen unterschiedlicher Herkunft, Kultur und sozialem Hintergrund. Insbesondere die Straßenkunst, Karaoke und die blühende Straßenmusik sind die Seele des Parks und authentische kulturelle Symbole für den Prenzlauer Berg und die ganze Stadt Berlin geworden.

Doch die Realität für die Musiker sieht leider ganz anders aus, als es in den Werbeprospekten und Reiseführer dargestellt wird.

Seit Kurzem werden die Musiker, die im Mauerpark spielten, fortlaufend angezeigt und vom Musizieren durch die Polizei abgehalten. Viele davon haben Bußgelder erteilt bekommen und bei einigen wurden sogar deren Instrumente durch die Polizei konfisziert, in Folge von Anzeigen einzelner Anwohner.

Helft uns die kulturelle Vielfalt im Mauerpark und Berlin zu schützen!

Wir sind Anwohner, Musiker und Besucher des Mauerparks, Wir sind in der Liebe zur Straßenkunst und dem Mauerpark vereint weil das kulturelle Gut was von sehr viel Menschen geteilt wird darf nicht durch Monierung weniger vernichtet werden.

Die Unterzeichnenden fordern:

1. Schutz und Unterstützung von Straßenmusik, Straßenkunst und Kultur im Mauerpark und Berlin.
2. Die Entwicklung eines transparenten und fairen Systems für Straßenmusiker im Mauerpark und Berlin. Diese sollte in Zusammenarbeit mit Straßenmusikern, -künstlern und Anwohnern der Stadt Berlin erarbeitet werden.
3. Verstärker und verstärkte Musik sollen erlaubt werden, da vielfältige Formen des künstlerischen Ausdrucks sonst nicht möglich sind.
4. Der aktuelle Umbauplan des Parks soll Schallschutzmaßnahmen innerhalb und außerhalb des Parks beinhalten.
5. Die Verwaltung von Pankow und Berlin soll einen nachhaltigen Schutz der Kultur im Mauerpark sicherstellen, den er aktuell dringender denn je benötigt.

Music in Mauerpark is under threat!

What was once the ‘death strip’, a no-man’s land separating East and West Berlin, has now become the legendary ‘Mauerpark’, which hosts a weekly flea market, and a vibrant community of street musicians and artists. It is a unique hotspot, attracting people of all ages, cultures, and social backgrounds. The music, art, street performers, and karaoke have always been the heartbeat of the Mauerpark. It has become one of the authentic and enduring cultural symbols of Prenzlauer Berg, and Berlin.

But the reality of it all for the musicians and artists of the park is quite different than what is depicted on the glossy pages of Berlin tourist guides and brochures.

As of late, the musicians who perform in Mauerpark are now consistently being reported to the authorities and stopped. Many of them have been issued fines and some have even had their instruments confiscated by the police, as a result of a few isolated complaints by a small number of local residents.

Help us protect the cultural diversity of Mauerpark and Berlin!

We are the residents, musicians and visitors of Mauerpark, and we are all united by the love of street art and Mauerpark and are in the belief that the enjoyment of so many should not be abolished by the complaints of so few.

We demand:

1. Protection and support of street music, art and cultural scene of Mauerpark and Berlin.
2. Development of an organised, functional and clear busking system for Mauerpark and Berlin. Which should be created together by musicians and street performers, residents of Berlin, and the Berlin city council.
3. Allow the use of amplifiers and amplified music, in support of various forms of artistic expression.
4. Inclusion of acoustic improvement structures in the renovation plan for Mauerpark, structures that allow a better sound insulation within and outside of the park.
5. To bring this matter to the Bezirksverwaltung of Pankow and the Senat of Berlin to make sure Mauerpark receives the protection it needs now more than ever.
