Bring Back Our Principal Aaron Mollett

Bring Back Our Principal Aaron Mollett
The Issue
On May 4, 2023, Aaron Mollett, the principal of Annapolis High school was suspended by Dr. Ty Weeks the Superintendent of Dearborn Heights District 7 school district. The families and students were not provided an explanation, and upon the community emailing there was no response from central office until the the news media contacted the district. Due to the suspension of Mr.Mollett our children and staff are impacted. The future of D7 is at stake. The morale of the students and staff is at an all time low. This situation has taken a toll, and sets nobody up for success. We are aware that this a privacy matter but there is a lack of communication continuously with Dr. Weeks. It seems as though Dr. Weeks does not effectively communicate with the students nor the families within our district. The students that rely on Mr. Mollett’s presence and reassurance are being penalized.
The staff and parents have built good rapport with him because of his willingness to work through things with a level head and clear understanding, they are being deprived of the one person they rely on.
The mental well being of children are at stake.
Due the recent state of our world, many students are suffering from some sort of mental illness especially due to the pandemic. We are in a society that wants to find someone to blame without first understanding the root cause of the situation. Instead they take action first and then ask questions later.
The community is requesting that Dr. Ty Weeks and Dr. Claudia Portscheller and Dearborn Heights District 7 School Board host a town hall meeting with the families of the district to provide us with some explanation as to the next steps as it relates to the reinstatement of Mr. Mollett.
At this time we are requesting that Mr. Mollett is reinstated to full duties by May 18, 2023.
