Beauty Without Cruelty: Ban Cosmetic Animal Testing

Beauty Without Cruelty: Ban Cosmetic Animal Testing

The Issue

Animal testing in the cosmetics industry has been a topic of ethical and scientific debate for a long time. This practice causes animals to suffer and often results in their death, also animal testing is not a 100% reliable way to check if products are safe for humans. Cosmetic companies use different testing methods based on the product or ingredient they used, after the experiments/testing animals are put down. The Humane Society posted a statistics that 500,000 animals die each year due to cosmetics testing. Half a million is a large number this raises serious ethical concerns, the issue goes beyond just the statistics, leading to important questions about using animals for cosmetic testing is necessary or morally right.

One of the most heartbreaking things about cosmetic testing on animals is that there are already humane alternatives especially in today's generation. Methods like studying cells in lab dishes, using organs on a chip, and AI models supported by research from Harvard Medical School can replace animal testing. Animals have feelings. They may not have the same abilities as humans, but they have the right to live. There are lots of ethical ways to advance science without causing harm to animals.
