Magistrate Mark Howden made a substantial penalty as a clear message to rogue builder who continues to breach industry legislation & building standards. It is unfortunate that homeowners become the collateral damage under the extreme stress & trauma imposed on a broken & failed system.
The QBCC system needs a complete overhaul to better meet the needs of the industry & bring their current practices, processes & legislation inline with current financial & regulatory frameworks. The QBCC needs to be more proactive & enforce appropriate regulatory measures without extensive delays & builder bias; to ensure the homeowner is not the sacrificial lamb used to hook & expose those to unethical, unprofessional and rogue builders.
