Thank you for your continued support and advocacy for the animals. Unfortunately, there is still more work to be done. The BCSPCA has told many of you that they were unable to recommend animal cruelty charges against Excelsior Hog Farm because Crown Counsel told them that the evidence would not be admissible. They will not, however, answer directly whether or not they submitted the evidence to the Crown, only that there was a "discussion."

BCSPCA will not tell us when this discussion took place, or what was discussed. Instead, the BCSPCA has now asked us to contact the Attorney General's office to get answers:

AG.minister@gov.bc.ca
250-387-1866

Please email and call the Attorney General to ask the following questions:

  • WHO at Crown Counsel spoke to the BCSPCA about the animal cruelty at Excelsior Hog Farm?
  • WHAT details were discussed in the conversation?
  • WHEN did the discussion take place?
  • WHY was the evidence deemed inadmissible?
  • HOW was the admissibility of the evidence determined without having it submitted to the Crown?

EMAIL DISCUSSION with the BCSPCA can be READ HERE

The BCSCPA continues to say that someone needs to come forward to verify the accuracy of the footage; however, the person HAS already come forward to. So what is the truth here?

As the BCSPCA yet again has dodged the question, they were asked, again, in simple 'yes' or 'no' terms if they submitted evidence to Crown Council for review.

In the emails (link above) the BCSPCA only says that a "discussion" occurred where someone "advised" them to NOT DO THEIR JOBS OF PROTECTING ANIMALS BY NOT SUBMITTING EVIDENCE FOR REVIEW ANYWAYS.

  • How can Crown Counsel determine if charges would be likely to lead to conviction, and/or if charges would serve the public interest (the two criteria for Crown approving charges) without viewing the evidence?

Lastly, the BCSPCA was asked directly if they did or did not submit evidence because of the person who "advised" against it.Yet again, the BCSPCA dodged the question and directed us to contacting the Attorney General for the details on the discussion, including the DATE on which it took place.

ANIMAL CRUELTY IS ANIMAL CRUELTY, NO MATTER HOW IT IS EXPOSED.

If the BCSPCA won’t fight with all they can for animals who clearly experienced abuse, why are they in this fight at all?
