After the Remembrance Day post was deleted a few people, including myself, began commenting on posts about the recent court case win. Apparently this was harder for the BCTF to ignore.
Their response: the poster, that was not an active initiative and was out of date, has been removed from the website so we can review the concerns raised.
My response: That poster was publicly accessible on your website as of yesterday and was dated 2012. Please do not try and be sly about this. I am, however, glad that it has been removed and will be reviewed. Perhaps you would also like to apologise to those whose concerns were deleted along with your Remembrance Day post. It does appear that it is alright for you to delete a post about Remembrance Day but your attention was finally brought when commenting on posts about the court case. In order to make amends I suggest it will be necessary to make a separate post and offer sincere apologies for those who were rightfully offended. I am not asking for any further accountability than I would from the government we fought in court and students who make poor decisions, as well as from myself. Apologies are made without excuse and we are role models. The poster has been make the rounds and many people will be looking for the BCTF to fully retract it. I will update my petition with your comment.
Thank you to everyone who has signed and shared this petition. I do not consider this matter closed until there has been a formal retraction and apology for deleting concerns from their Facebook page. I have had to make unreserved apologies in my life and when an organisation is called to account I think it reflects best on them if they do the same. Please continue to share the petition and I will continue to update.
