Animal Birth Control/ABC Program involves sterilizing street dogs, vaccinating them against rabies and releasing them back into the areas where they were picked up from. It is a humane way of controlling dog population.  It’s wrong to believe that killing street dogs will bring down their numbers. But definitely sterilizing them helps in reducing and stabilizing their population. 

The benefits of implementing the ABC are as follows:
 
1. Continued reduction of street dogs, makes the streets safer for humans.
2. Lesser cases of rabies in dogs and therefore humans as well.
3. Improved health of the female dogs once they stop littering.
4. Reduced incidents of aggression and fighting between male dogs.
5. Less aggression towards humans.
