Many thanks for all the people who have signed up to the petition. The BBC is self-regulatory and let’s not be under any illusions about the mammoth aim we have set here. To make change we need enough signatures to make OfCom, the media and government take notice. Promote, post and pass on this petition wherever possible. We want to get 10,000 signatures.
I was recently contacted by somebody who submitted a 15,000 signed petition to the BBC against them blatantly putting Corbyn’s picture in front of the Kremlin to make him look like a Russian collaborator. The BBC counted the petition as one complaint, and refused to release how many complaints they had received over the Newsnight programme. I was told also the BBC only allow complaints about specific programmes. We might need to each of us submit individual complaints against a biased programme. We can coordinate this together easily.
We want a level playing field of news coverage going into a new election. Corbyn and Labour have got to get at least the same level of uninterrupted and fair representation of their policies as those given to the Conservatives. This has got to cover what is reported, what isn’t reported, and the tone and manner of the news reporting. The current state of reporting is undemocratic and is unacceptable. The national broadcaster paid for from public money, and with an ‘impartiality’ charter has got to do better. It has also got to be more accountable for its news reporting.
To support the petition I have created a new Facebook forum, ‘Stop the anti-Corbyn bias on the BBC’. This is a place where like-minded people can share ideas and thoughts about the BBC bias. I also encourage the posting of examples of BBC biased reporting that upset or annoy you. This can be ongoing news stories or examples of news stories from the past.
