The Issue
As an electric vehicle (EV) owner, a dedicated Bay Club member, and a professional committed to electrification and sustainability, I respectfully urge Bay Club leadership to install EV charging stations at all 23 of their locations across the San Francisco Bay Area.
To my knowledge, none of these facilities currently offer EV charging—a significant shortcoming in an era of rapid EV adoption.
Electric vehicles are no longer a future concept—they are today’s reality. California leads the nation in EV sales, accounting for over 40% of all EVs sold in the U.S.. As of 2023, nearly 1.3 million EVs are registered in California—a number that continues to grow as the state pursues its carbon neutrality goals by 2045.
The average Bay Club member spends 60 to 90 minutes per visit, whether working out, attending a class, or enjoying wellness amenities. This duration presents a perfect opportunity for convenient EV charging, allowing members to power their vehicles while enhancing their health and lifestyle.
In this context, the absence of EV chargers at Bay Club locations is more than a missed opportunity—it’s an environmental and customer service oversight. Providing charging access would be a practical and impactful step toward aligning Bay Club’s offerings with the values of its forward-thinking membership.
Installing EV chargers would reinforce Bay Club’s leadership in innovation, sustainability, and wellness. It would reduce members' carbon footprints, support California’s clean energy transition, and offer a seamless convenience that modern EV drivers increasingly expect from premium destinations.
We respectfully call on Bay Club leadership to prioritize the rapid deployment of EV charging stations at all club campuses. This initiative would strengthen Bay Club’s position as a leader in sustainable practices and member-centered design.
