I'm making this petition because I hope you can make this story public. My dad was recently arrested and charged with seven felonies and felony vandalism. He is a black man in a predominantly white town. So you can guess how this is going to go. To get to the key points. My father isn't mentally stable. He has psychosis. He recently had an episode where he believed the FBI was after him. (This is very, very common in psychotic patients.) My father felt my family and I were working with the FBI to get him killed, so he flew from Georgia (where we live) to California. We contacted the California police to find him. (for a wellness check). He wasn't answering his cell, and we were concerned. We believed he was suicidal due to his recent Instagram posts. We let the police know over and over again. HE IS NOT MENTALLY STABLE. After a few days, he was located at a hotel. Recent articles wrote a story about this. You should see many articles already talking about the story. But nobody knows the rest because the police won't release the information. I'll tell you why because they shot my father two times in the stomach. They lied to my family and said they got him out safely. Once my mom arrived at the hospital, she found out they had shot him. They have my father at a jail facility right now. His bail is 524K dollars. Since the situation happened, we haven't spoken to my father (on Thursday, February 24th). They are only allowing our attorney. How the police are handling this is not okay. Arresting a mentally ill patient, on top of that, shooting him for whatever reason isn't justice. He needs to be in a mental hospital right now, getting the help he needs. I have six siblings, and I'm not sure how to tell them this. Please make my story public. Please help us get our father bailed and out of prison. I'm not asking for money to set him free. I'm asking for justice. He is a LOVING father. The most excellent man and father out there. He is hardworking and has provided every day for my family and me. He has always been there for me. So now I'm doing the same for him. Thanks for your time.
