Good morning All,
Long time no speak but that does not mean we have not been working on the waste depot
We have managed to delay the council and they only started working on the depot a few weeks ago. Since then our lives are full of dust and noise.
We have contacted the Considerate construction scheme- the company the site is registered to according to the council leaflet some of us received and the email we got on the 17th May was the below:

Dear Sirs
Willmott Dixon register with the Scheme on a site by site basis. Regrettably, we have no record of this particular project being registered.
Kind regards

Strangely enough, on the 18th of May we got the below email:

to me
Dear Sirs
Further to my previous e-mail, I can confirm that the registration of this site was completed today.
We would normally refer complaints concerning registered sites to the senior building manager to respond directly to you, and ask that they copy their response to us to ensure that the matter has been addressed. Are you happy for us to do this?
If you have any queries in the meantime, please don't hesitate to get in touch. If you would like to know more about the Scheme, please visit our website by clicking here.
Kind Regards
David Crook
Public Liaison Manager
On the 20th of May we received the below email from the council:

Dear Stamo and Kanu,
Following conversations with colleagues at both Barnet Council and Willmott Dixon, please see below for a response to the points made in your emails.
Willmott Dixon submitted its registration for the Oakleigh Road South Depot site on 10th May, and final confirmation of this was received from Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) on 18th May. The site reference number is 96955.
The newsletter sent to local residents on 7th May noted that Willmott Dixon is a founding member of the CCS and therefore, as a company, is registered with CCS. The newsletter did not state that the site was registered at that point.
As a member of the CCS, Willmott Dixon follows the guidance for working considerately, regardless of whether a site is registered or not. Since beginning the preparation work at the Oakleigh Road South Depot site, Willmott Dixon has been working to the CCS Code of Considerate Practice.
In line with the construction plan, Willmott Dixon has not conducted any major excavation work to date. As there has been no activities that would cause large amounts of dust, there is presently no specific dust suppression measures in place. The dust monitoring equipment is now on site and being prepared for installation. Pending the appropriate checks, it is likely that the dust screen will be installed next week. Furthermore, Willmott Dixon will also put in place the below measures ahead of any significant excavation work taking place:
· A fine mist of water will be sprayed from pressurised nozzles onto the area being excavated and around the lorries as the material is loaded into them. Once the lorries are full, a cover is pulled over the load compartment.
· The fineness of the nozzles allow for a reasonably small amount of water to be used whilst still having the desired effect. The water used is fed from a tanked reservoir which is refilled each night.
· Willmott Dixon will be erecting a 6 metre high scaffold framework along the Eastern boundary of the site where the tree screening has been removed. This will be covered in a fine mesh fabric which will help to capture any dust missed by the spray. This has been included as an additional measure following your emails highlighting your concerns.
· Dust and noise measuring instruments have been purchased and have been delivered to site. These accurately record levels of both noise and dust and provide real-time information to the site management. This allows actions to be taken promptly should any issues arise.
The Council and Willmott Dixon are aligned in their approach to making sure that this depot is built with as little disruption to local people. Being that it is a construction project, we appreciate that there will be some inconvenience, but Willmott Dixon, as a member of CCS, will work to minimise this.
The replacement depot is essential to an efficient and cost effective waste and recycling collection service across the whole borough of Barnet.
I hope the above provides you with suitable answers to your questions.
Kind regards,
Ryan

I will let your imagination run wild as to what has happened above and how much the council cares about us but please note: if the work has not started yet and we are full of dust and noise, what will happen for the rest of the summer and will our kids be able to play in the recreation park just opposite the site?
Some of the local residents have already started emailing the new Mayor and we think it might be a good idea if you all let him know how much it would affect our lives in a very negative way.
Therefore, I would urge you to write to Mrs Crook complaining about it to: enquiries@ccscheme.org.uk
But you should also mention the case to our new Mayor and our representative in the GLA for a re opening and review. We should also directly email the Secretary of state for local governments as he is the only one that can stop it:
Points you should raise:
-Proximity to residential, inadequate travel plan, rise in traffic, air, noise and vermin pollution.
-The council receiving over 700 objections and still went through with the Mayor's casting vote.
-destruction of our one and only environmental corridor with nesting birds, bats and slow worms
-proximity of the site to the recreation park where our children play.
It is important it happen asap so it does not need to be a big email as long as you send it and make your point.
You will need to mention ref:D&P/3701/01/JPC and 15/04005/FUL
The emails you need to include are: andrew.dismore@london.gov.uk,
sadiq.khan@london.gov.uk, gregclarkmp@parliament.uk, Cllr.K.Levine@barnet.gov.uk, cllr.a.ioannidis@barnet.gov.uk and you can cc barnetraad@gmail.com so we can pick up from there.
If you would also like to protest about the lack of respect Barnet Council has for its residents and democracy, You may be interested to know that the Barnet Alliance for Public Services (BAPS) is organising a protest for next Tuesday 26th May 2016 outside the Town Hall in Hendon, where the Council's "annual meeting" and installation of the new mayor is taking place:
We will be there to remind the Council they are dealing with humans and not number crunching inconveniences.
It is a lovely sunny day so enjoy it.
Kind regards
Stamo
