APVMA must review use of 1080 & Papp

APVMA must review use of 1080 & Papp
The issue
APVMA is the Australian regulatory body authorising importation and use of Veterinary products, poisons and chemicals in this country.
APVMA did not consider the "humaneness" of 1080 poison because "it is not part of the scope of their investigation".and that the scope of the review did not include a decision about "humaneness" and suggested that humaneness ought be considered "on another occasion"
We believe that time is NOW. It is OVERDUE
It is now 15 years since the 2008 review and every year, thousands of dingoes, now well accepted to be crucial for biodiversity, and wildlife as collateral damage, die from 1080 poison baits and secondary poisoning from 1080 baits.
Deaths are cruel and gruesome, and inhumane as well as causing observed prolonged deaths in many species, including native wildlife, dingoes, raptor, kangaroos, lizards, skinks, in fact any carniverous species will be impacted by 1080 poison.
APVMA are obliged to review the use of 1080 poison under the Legislation because there has been significant scientific advances since 2008 including recognition of the Australian Dingo as crucial for biodiversity.
Our leading scientists have demanded an end to the use of 1080 poison as its use is causing the deaths of our native apex land predator, the Dingo, crucial for ecological biodiversity.
Aerial baiting with 1080 poison is common, with poisoned carcass left for both domestic and native wildlife to feed on with high level secondary poisoning.
APVMA must review the humaneness of 1080 poison based on public demand as a consequence of first hand experience and the deaths of Dingoes our apex land predator, domestic animals and native wildlife across Australia.
