There are way too many animal shelters in Maryland and Virginia that are not actually here to help the animals they take in. They do not provide proper care for the animals and are way too quick to euthanize the healthy ones.

These shelters euthanize healthy animals for space. This should not ever happen. These shelters should also not turn down rescue groups or potential adopters because they've already made up their mind that a certain amount of animals are going to be euthanized anyway. All just for space.

I understand it can be hard to get the proper funding for shelters, but there are so many that need an overhaul on staff and the shelter itself. We need knowledgeable, qualified people to run and work at these shelters. Healthy animals should not ever be euthanized. There are so many rescue groups out there that are more than willing to work with these shelters to pull the animals and provide them with foster homes and permanent homes.

These poor animals cannot speak up for themselves. Let's speak up for them! This petition will be going to Maryland & Virginia senators and the governors. Each one supports animal rights and I believe they are the ones to help these animals that unwillingly end up in these euthanization shelters.
