According to HUD.gov,

In the Sale and Rental of Housing: No one may take any of the following actions based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status or handicap:

• Refuse to rent or sell housing
• Refuse to negotiate for housing

• Deny a dwelling
• Set different terms, conditions or privileges for sale or rental of a dwelling
• Provide different housing services or facilities

NOTE: This act does not suggest discriminating against the renters, in general. It only suggests discrimination, period. 

Studies suggest that 91% of dog owners believe (believing being a form of speech) their dog to be part of their family, according to Harris Interactive.

2/3 of the American people, are dog owners.

63% of dog owners, own a bully breed dog. 

BSL violates our right to free speech, as many dog owners will confirm the breed of dog will inform individuals about the dog owners personality, prior to even meeting the owner. Thus being a form of speech in today's society, and and throughout human history. The BELIEF of dogs being part of the family is also a form of speech.

It also coincides with the fair housing act, as the fair housing act does not specifically dictate exactly who or what is being discriminated against, it merely states landlords cannot discriminate due to the specified reasons. As described above, 91% of dog owners believe their dog is family.

Bully breed owners have restricted possibilities for housing and are forced to spend unnecessary money on housing they do not need, to be able to house their dog/family.

My personal experience: I am now renting a 3 bedroom house. My pit-bull lives with me. I am single. I have no kids. Yet because this 3 bedroom house was the ONLY house I could find that would allow my Pit-Bull, I am now spending money for extra space I do not need. Money I could be spending elsewhere.... 

I know I am not alone. So lets assume that there are 10 million bully breed owners doing exactly what I am doing, and paying for space they don't need.

Now, do the math. How much money could we put back into the economy, if BSL did not exist?

Think of all the money spent to push BSL into law.... 

Since the beginning of recorded history, and even before that, dogs have been part of humanity. BSL can result in a social and psychological disasters in dog owners, as it would interfere with the evolution of humans and dogs over the past 100,000 years. 

Insurance companies and landlords do not have the right to discriminate against our beliefs and our families, under the fair housing act, AND the first amendment. BSL is a violation of our rights, and we have the right to live where-ever our credit allows. Our credit does not get denied because we own a dog.
