I have a profound love for fish and small organisms, and this disgusts me. These sentient beings experience feelings, have social lives, RECOGNISE THEIR OWNERS, and can even develop depression, anxiety, and die due to comorbidities caused by constant pain and suffering. Unfortunately, a YouTuber named @yangxiaobao1083 has blatantly violated ethical fishkeeping norms by continually abusing and neglecting her fish. This is done through the usage of undersized, overstocked (also, the fish aren’t safely acclimated to their environment) and uncycled ‘tanks’ (VASES). Despite numerous reports, YouTube has yet to take action, due to the fact that she does not ‘explicitly’ depict the abuse (same applies to larger abusive content farms).
Fish REQUIRE and RELY on specific conditions to survive and thrive, and it’s worth mentioning again that they can suffer from extreme mental and physical distress due to poor treatment, which can lead to decreased and deteriorated health, and you guessed it - DEATH. Also, if the water isn’t properly cycled, it can lead to the accumulation of chemicals. This will further endanger the fish's life.
Even though she keeps some adequate tanks and (god, I’m tired of saying tank) ponds, some are overcrowded and likely treated the same way as her ‘tanks’. In addition, her ‘tanks’ are almost definitely too underplanted to be considered as a Walstad Method Aquarium. Alternatively, she could JUST DAMN PROPERLY CARE FOR THE FISH, remove the fish altogether, or utilise these VASES as miniature terrariums instead (PREFERABLY, NOTHING BIGGER THAN A SNAIL, IN HER CASE). However, she could possibly be making ragebait content, too.
Sadly, @yangxiaobao1083’s multiple vases are all in such inadequate condition, which is clearly neglect towards to poor fish having to live in them. I urge YouTube to take immediate action and ban her channel. It is integral that we properly nurture for these beautiful creatures we take in to care for, instead of using them as a temporary decoration. Let's put an end to her (and hopefully many other’s) unacceptable practices. Sign the petition and help us enforce this much-needed change.
