This major horrifying story appears only to be available online so far, for those sourcing Stuff items. Not on RNZ feed.. Please share. It must shock the Coalition into dragging NZ into the first world.
This article was sent to C Luxon, W Peters, D Seymour at 7.30 this morning with a note.
The note reiterates previous points. Maybe this statistic will help breach the echo chamber which NZ First, ACT and Labour inhabit, and where they remain ignorant of the levels of vape addiction from which New Zealand communities are suffering, and the health issues, or they do not care. National states they have heard the clinical professionals, school principals et al, so here's hoping the vape lobbyists cannot get the coalition to condone this current scenario too or the weak futile amendments, or buy their rubbish about vapes being the healthy alternative to cigarettes, which many vapers weren't using anyway!, and 'without the toxins in tobacco smoking' so really almost harmless.
(Vapes can have a temporary role as a therapy, with their own serious health risks, but obtained from pharmacies, which are everywhere and very accessible, and with vapes not on show, and not throughout the community in other outlets, SVRs, dairies etc. See previous update with 7 'activities' leading to prescription only, using public campaigns, quitting services etc in first 100 days.)
So, under the title
'Shocking stats. Good science puts vapes in pharmacies - the right balance until they are banned'
this was sent.
Dear Messrs Luxon, Seymour and Peters
I have been reading ACT and NZ First policies on vaping, both heavily promoting the behaviour. I am not surprised as the vape lobby has pushed hard to persuade governments that drenching the community with vapes is necessary to reduce tobacco smoking with its terrible impact.
However the policies indicate lack of any awareness of the advice of the major clinical specialist groups, and lack of awareness of what is occurring in New Zealand, with youth vaping, school principals concerns etc.
Ask any teenager about vaping amongst their peers.
The denial of a youth vaping epidemic by ACT is worrying.
NZ (government) currently has misinformation in its vaping material, seriously understating harm, eg 'vaping does not have the toxins in tobacco smoking' implying it is safe, and there is no vape or nicotine quitting service. It is very third world in the sense of a criminal lack of proper information for the public in a product it massively supports and makes considerable money from until the effects of vaping in NZ end up draining the economy.
Compare NZ online advice with that of eg one of the top US hospitals, the Cleveland Clinic.
You will find clear advice on this petition site and its updates.
