Each of the nearly 2,500 signatures in this petition along with the 1,000s in similar protests and all the comments posted reflect the deep concern in our community about vaping.

The surge in new brightly lit attractive vape shops in shopping centres and close to schools of course supports the idea that these outlets are acceptable and that vaping is fine, and shows that the government, including the Ministry of Health, clearly supports intensive vape marketing.

All these shops will be legal with the new amendment.

Vaping is obviously not being marketed as a means of stopping smoking with its own risks, but that it is a new exciting drug that that the overall community finds acceptable.

We should not have to 'fight' and with decent regulations we wouldn't but bizarrely in New Zealand we do.

Thank you and keep talking and telling those, who decide on our behalf what is good for us, that vape shops simply aren't.

Letters from various individuals can be dismissed it seems. Many letters and many signatures on petitions such as this one, and good media less so. I look forward to the Paddy Gower doco on August 1.

All the best

Mary MacGibbon
