It's now 2026 but the Football Foundation, Sport England and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport continue to support 3G sports pitches despite DEFRA confirming in 2025 that artificial pitches are the largest source of intentionally added microplastic pollution in the UK. Communities across the UK are fighting these polluting plastic developments on precious green field sites. Campaigners in Preston, Colne and Louth have led successful campaigns to save their green-spaces but there are other communities still fighting. If you can help residents in Chester-le -Street , Durham (DM/25/03215/FPA) or residents in Surbiton (26/01183/FUL) please add your objections to the planning portals.
