Ban Transphobic Policies in Ontario

The Issue

I refuse to let Ontario follow the harmful path of Alberta and Quebec. Transphobia is rising, and I won’t stay silent while hate spreads. This is personal because I believe in protecting trans lives, rights, and dignity. Ontario must be a safe haven — a place where trans people are respected, not targeted. I’m taking a stand before it’s too late.

In recent years, provinces like Alberta, Saskatchewan and Quebec have implemented policies that marginalise transgender individuals, jeopardising their safety, well-being, and human rights. These policies, cloaked under the guise of "protecting children" or "upholding traditional values," are nothing more than thinly-veiled attempts to discriminate and spread fear. Ontario must not fall prey to similar transphobic ideologies that deny people their basic rights to live authentically and freely.

The statistics are alarming. According to a 2021 report by Egale Canada, 30% of transgender individuals in Canada have faced some form of discrimination in the past year. This number skyrockets to over 50% when examining areas with restrictive policies that label transgender rights as "controversial." The rise of anti-trans legislation poses a direct threat to an already vulnerable community.

We demand that Ontario's government take a stand against these divisive and damaging policies. We call on Premier Doug Ford and the Ontario Legislature to codify protections for transgender individuals, ensuring that Ontario remains a beacon of inclusion and respect for all. These protections should include clear anti-discrimination laws, access to gender-affirming healthcare, and educational programs that promote understanding and respect for gender diversity.

Our collective actions can safeguard Ontario from becoming another statistic in the growing wave of transphobia sweeping through Canada. By signing this petition, you are standing up for a diverse and compassionate society, one where all individuals can live safely and proudly in their true identities.

Join me in sending a powerful message to Ontario's leaders: trans rights are human rights, and there is no place for hatred here. Please sign and share this petition to make an impact today.
