I am representing the students voice from Cardinal Newman secondary school in Brighton and hove. They’ve put in this new code which REQUIRES us to buy a YONDR pouch for £25 as part of our compulsory school uniform.

I’m completely against this as I personally need to access my phone due to medical reasons and if the YONDR pouch is enforced into the school, Me aswell as many other people will be prevented from using their phones for their timetables and could even suffer physically from the YONDR pouch due to our medical equipment REQUIRING OUR PHONES. (Also I’m pretty sure that’d be breaking some kind of law)

Also, at the end of the day, we are meant to go to these unlocked locations placed round the school (3:05). If the Yondr pouch is compulsory to have, How are the people taking public transport gonna be able to catch their bus? There is is roughly 2000 students in school and there is rumoured to have 10-20 YONDR unlockers for the school. That is about 100-200 students per unlockers, and if the unlockers are placed in a classroom or a teacher is handling them, that’d be a safety hazard to everyone since that could cause crowd crush in the hallways / classroom.

We’re the ones who’s have to pay for these pouches even though we are the ones that don’t want them. £25 can feed a family for about half a week. Why should we be spending on something so unnecessary when we’re in a cost of living crisis and inflation is on a constant rise?
