RACE  SPURS  are  LEGAL  to use in all  STATES and TERRITORIES  in Australia . RACE SPURS have been BANNED in IRELAND , UNITED KINGDOM , FRANCE , Hong Kong , Japan and U.S.A .

This  petition is about   BANNING the use of RACE SPURS  used  over  THREE industries:

HORSE BREAKERS 

THOROUGHBRED  industry 

EQUESTRIAN.

Every day thousands of horses in Australia endure PAIN and SUFFERING  due to the use of  RACE  SPURS  used by  jockeys , equestrian riders  and horse breakers .The HORSE  known for it's power and LOYALTY  fall victim to the  BLUNT METAL  RODS  that are attached  to jockeys BOOT'S  that dig into their sides, (RIBS ) causing them intense pain and fear. A horse can feel when a fly lands on its body and will react  immediately.

The horse's Epidermis ( outer skin) is where  pain-sensing Nerves live and is slightly thinner than human Epidermis.

Cockfighting  was banned in 1850 in Australia , years before  RACE SPURS  were introduced  for  world war ONE  .

Race Spurs are not necessary there optional.

Horses are being BROKEN in  at a VERY young age , getting ready  for  their   TWO year old debut. Some horse breakers use RACE SPURS  instead of  PATIENCE.

Equestrian riders : Some riders  choose to use  RACE SPURS . Most riders use there  HEEL  not RACE SPURS.

Some Jockeys  choose  to ride  with  LONG  STIRRUPS  it  gives them the ability to  give a horse a kick in the RIBS. MOST  jockeys ride with SHORT STIRRUPS  giving  them  BETTER BALANCE and  NO chance to give the horse a kick in the  RIBS. Safer for horse and  Jockey.

Some trainers pressure jockeys to use blunt  RACE SPURS, falsely believing that it will enhance performance. However, this practice only leads to distress and physical harm for the horses, compromising their well-being and health. It's a form of  ANIMAL  CRUELTY that has no place in  society, where we ought to cherish and protect the lives of all  HORSES 

Statistics show that the use of  RACE  SPURS can cause long-term physical damage to horses, leading to serious injuries and, in some cases, irreversible conditions. The physical and psychological trauma inflicted upon these animals is profound, and it is our duty to speak up for those without a voice.

There are alternative methods that can be used to encourage and train horses without inflicting pain. POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT,  PATIENCE , better training techniques,  can replace the outdated and cruel use of  RACE SPURS . Modern advancements in horse training have already shown promising results without resorting to  VIOLENCE 

I urge industry regulators and lawmakers in Australia to ban the use of race spurs altogether. Implement policies that mandate the humane treatment of racehorses and promote training methods that prioritize their welfare over outdated practices.
